Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that it made the A List that recognizes companies pioneering action on climate change and transparent information disclosure, the top rating of the CDP,*1 for the fifth consecutive year.
Fuji Electric’s corporate philosophy is to contribute to prosperity, encourage creativity, and seek harmony with the environment and, as stated in its management policies, the company is committed to contributing to the creation of a responsible and sustainable society through its energy and environment business.
The Environmental Vision 2050, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality and reduce the environmental impact to zero, calls for the achievement of a decarbonized society, a recycling-oriented society, and a society that is in harmony with nature. As part of its efforts to achieve a decarbonized society, Fuji Electric has set the following Fiscal 2030 Goals and is working on initiatives throughout the supply chain to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
-
Greenhouse gas emissions throughout the supply chain (Scope 1+2+3): Reduction of over 46% (compared to FY2019)
-
Greenhouse gas emissions through production (Scope 1+2): Reduction of over 46% (compared to FY2019)*2
-
Contribution to CO2 reduction in a society through our products: Over 59 million tons/year
Fuji Electric is working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the supply chain and through production in the aim of achieving decarbonization in 2050 and achieving its Fiscal 2030 Goals. It also promotes disclosure of the risks and opportunities arising from climate change and adaptation measures, which is in accordance with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). The company also positions environmental initiatives as priority issues for management and regularly discusses them at the SDGs Promotion Committee and reports them to the Board of Directors. In FY2023, the company obtained SBT*3 validation for its FY2030 greenhouse gas emissions reduction target (in December 2022) and was selected as an A List company for the fifth consecutive year in recognition of its efforts.
Fuji Electric offers a wide range of products and systems that contribute to the achievement of a decarbonized society, from the energy supply side to the demand side. It contributes to reducing society’s CO2 emissions by offering clean energy-related equipment for geothermal, hydro, and solar power; electricity storage control systems that help to provide a stable supply of energy with weather-dependent capacity; and energy-saving components, such as power semiconductors and inverters.
At its factories, Fuji Electric aims to increase the proportion of renewable energy use over the long term by installing solar power generation equipment and increasing its procurement of power from renewable energy sources. The company is also working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in its production activities by introducing energy-saving equipment such as its own energy management systems, inverters, and high-efficiency air conditioning systems and by promoting the reduction and replacement of SF6 and other gases with high global warming potential.
