Present Status and Tendency of Industrial Computers
Taihei Yamaguchi, Tatehiko Oka
A rapid change going on in the general computer market is pressing industrial computers for conceptual conversion. For the real-time control function characteristic of industrial systems, exclusive-use control computers were used formerly, but they cannot meet customers' needs that give much weight in general-purpose functions. By converting open machines into industrial ones, Fuji Electric developed next generation machines that satisfy industrial needs and wide uses. This paper outlines the tendency of the general computer market, needs of industrial computers, relation to programmable controllers, and technical problems.
Fuji Electric's Industrial Computers
Sumio Uchiyama, Yutaka Watanabe, Shigeru Omori
There are intense changes or innovations going on, for example, enhancing CPU performance, reducing prices, developing open machines, shifting from centralized systems to individual, distributed ones. This paper describes Fuji Electric's attitude to the industrial computer to meet such innovative changes, such as what measures they are taking and what lineup of products they have developed.
Industrial Computer DS/90 System
Masakiyo Oshiba, Shigeru, Omori, Hiroyoshi Hara
There is an intense change in the environment of information processing systems in the 1990s. It is a necessary condition for next generation information systems to able to meet the changing environment quickly and flexibly, and the open system is a solution to satisfy the condition. Fuji Electric has put on the market DS/90 7000 series industrial computers equipped with an open platform. This paper describes the development policy for the DS/90 7000 series and an outline of its hardware and software.
Control Software Development Executive Environment "Objectpower"
Hiroji Nishida, Hirofumi Ando, Ken'ichi Ishikawa
An important problem in constructing distributed systems is linkage technique between computers. Users have to make much effort to solve it. The Objectpower is software made by introducing object-oriented design technique to solve the problem and can provide a favorable environment for system construction and expansion. The Objectpower is composed of two basic systems: an executive environment and a development support environment. This paper introduces the outline, features and environment functions of the Objectpower.
Human Interface of Industrial Computer DS/90 7000 Series
Hiroji Nishida, Shiroh Nakatao, Fukashi Koyama
The human computer interface in the industrial and control field requires immediacy, integrated display and operation, rapid response, and operational reliability to facilitate operator's decision and information acquisition. The industrial computer DS/90 7000 series includes the human interface environment of graphical user interfaces and multimedia, which concentrate Fuji Electric's know-how on an open platform. This paper outlines the human-interface software packages of the DS/90 7000 series.
Development Support Environment for Industrial Computer Systems
Fumihiro Saitoh, Masaharu Gotoh, kazumasa Kodaira
In recent years, the proportion of software development work to computer system development has been getting higher because of the sophistication of systems. Fuji Electric has been advancing CASE (Computer-Aided System and software Engineering) for the purpose of improving the quality and productivity of computer software development. This paper outlines the software development environment for industrial computer systems and main development support tools.
Linkage Systems for Industrial Computers
Hidejirou Asano
There have been intense changes in the environment of computers such as networking open systems, downsizing, multivendors, and decentralization. From a viewpoint of the linkage system to build more sophisticated, more effective, automated systems under the circumstances, this paper introduces Fuji Electric's networks and linkage system configurations based on the networks It introduces linkage software between DS/90 7000,A series and FA personal computer systems as well.
FA System Construction and Operation Package "ESYNET"
Toshihiro Harada, Shigeru Komatsubara, Rika Tsukada
In order to meet increasing needs for the automation of information acquisition and management in production lines and the downsizing of computers, Fuji Electric has proposed distributed-processing CIM, i.e. mini-CIM. The ESYNET is a package supporting FA client-server system construction and operation to realize the mini-CIM. It aims to enhance the efficiency of application development sharply and to complete a set of mini-CIM business packages. This paper describes its background, functions and targets, and an example of application.
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System of Obihiro Control Center, The Hokkaido Electric Power Co., Inc.
Kaoru Sano, Koichiro Hosokawa, Satoru Takahashi
The SCADA system requires improving reliability, safety, and maintainability and reinforcing operation support functions to meet power system expansion and demand for reliable power supply. In view of the about, in replacing the Obihiro Control Center SCADA system, Fuji Electric has constructed a distributed-function system, improved maintainability by chronological management of the data base, improved operational safety with charged line, hatching, and operation guidance displays, and reinforced operation support functions with high-speed power flow calculation, data opening to personal computers, and inverse generation of operation schedules.
Power System Operation Support System for a Large-Scale Water Plant
Noboru Okuda, Yuji Inagaki, Tatsuya Kurebayashi
In the supervision and control system of water plants, industrial computers have provided more sophisticated control and support functions with the development of intelligent information processing and data base functions. Switching operation in a large-scale water plant requires high reliability and quick response, and a suitable support system for the operator is particularly effective. This paper introduces the functions, features, and software configuration of the support system.
Factory Automation System for Aluminum Can Manufacturing Lines
Takashi Kato, Masatake Nishinaka
The mainstream of recent system configurations in the FA field has been the computer system in which information is unified using a general-purpose network and various terminals distributed in the factory can easily execute reference, change, addition, and registration (client-server systems) This paper introduces an example of a client-server system introduced in a 24-hour unattended continuous operation system.
