Applications of Controller Technology

Present View and Outlook for Applications of Controller Technology
Masakatsu Hishinuma, Hideo Masumoto, Yasushi Ishii
The MICREX-SX series (SX) of integrated controllers incorporate advanced technology such as high-speed processing and are being applied in a wider array of fields. This paper describes flexible system solutions and the software modularization that leverage the SX's special features (higher speed and open network) and which support the growing range of applications. Also presented are an actual application example, development techniques such as for the block engineering used in an application, and other components that support applications.

New Features of PLC Programming Tool "D300win Ver.3"
Masayoshi Matsumoto, Koji Fukushima
The D300win, a program development and support tool that conforms to international standard IEC61131-3, has leveraged the flexibility of software products to further enhance and expand various functions, performance and operability, and together with the MICREX-SX series, has been well received following its introduction to the market. Its growing range of applications, due to the recent support of programmable controller open networks and its use in combination with servo motors and inverters, together with demands for a development environment that enhances productivity of control programs having increasingly advanced functions, higher complexity and larger scale, have led to the development of a Ver.3 that is even easier to use than the prior Ver.2. This paper describes the major features of the D300win Ver.3.

"HEART Series" of Innovative Engineering Tools
Minoru Yoshino, Masaharu Yamaguchi, Tomomasa Kudoh
The HEART series of support tools automatically generate the control software for a programmable controller (PLC) or distributed control system (DCS) from control specifications that have been created with Excel or Visio office automation software. The HEART series is also provided with a function to test those specifications. The generated software operates according to the abovementioned specifications, eliminating the need for design, coding and debugging steps. The HEART series enables the efficient generation of high-quality software.

Application of Controllers to Motion Control Systems
Tadakatsu Aida, Yoshiaki Shimada, Kenji Tajiri
This paper presents three types of motion control systems being proposed by Fuji Electric: network, motion controller (MC) module, and function block (FB) systems. For the network system, a long-distance distributed system comprised of servo amps having a built-in positioning function is described. For the MC module system for multiaxial use, a table format program editor/loader for controlling multiple machines with an easy-to-understand, large-size motion program is described. And for the FB system, concepts of the synchronous operation system and of the electronic cam system are described.

Application of the MICREX-SX Series to Drive Control Systems
Yukio Inoue, Masahiro Kina, Mitsuhiko Togo
A characteristic feature of the MICREX-SX series (SX) of integrated controllers is its use of a function block diagram (FBD) programming language, whereby drive control elements are modularized into function blocks (FBs), enabling highly efficient programming. This paper presents three examples of application to a drive system. Also, utilizing another characteristic feature of the SX series, its high-speed bus, an example system that acquires and analyzes the control data for drive units is also described.

Remote Monitoring and Maintenance Systems Based on the MICREX-SX Series of Integrated Controllers
Kazuhiro Fujita, Fumio Takahashi, Yoshinobu Hirao
On the shop floor and at manufacturing facilities, there is a strong desire to realize efficient facilities management in order to achieve stable and safe operation for the purposes of energy savings and cost cutting. As a solution, Fuji Electric has been providing a remote monitoring and maintenance system that utilizes IT. The application of IT has developed rapidly and the technology has trended toward lower prices. This paper presents an overview of the Fuji online adapter (FOA) that uses public networks and the SX-Web module that uses an intranet/internet for use in configuring a remote monitoring system based on the MICREX-SX series of integrated controllers.

Application of Controllers to the Management System for an Office Building
Masahiro Maeeda, Yasunori Nagata, Yukio Fukui
In response to the information orientated trends of recent years and with the goal of decreasing lifecycle costs, there is strong demand that building management systems be able to control a greater variety of devices and for the more widespread use of multi-vendors. In response to these demands, networked technologies typified by BACnet and LONWORKS, that are suitable for building management, have led to control devices being compatible with open networks, and greater industry-wide standardization. This paper introduces the development of Fujitsu Ltd.'s building management system that supports LONWORKS and utilizes the MICREX-SX series of integrated controllers. An example of an actual delivered product, the standardization method and applicable products are also described.

Application of Controllers to a Temperature Control System
Kiyoshi Miyaso, Masato Kawaura
This paper introduces a system that performs temperature control via the application software for a programmable controller (PLC). A temperature control system configured from standard PLC hardware and using software components for PID control is presented. An inpanel type temperature controller based on the MICREX-SX platform is also introduced. The inpanel type temperature controller is developed by Fuji Electric Instruments Co., Ltd., a member of the Fuji Electric Group.

Application of Controllers to a High-speed Analog Data Logging System
Mitsunori Fukuzumi, Hideo Takahashi
A high-speed analog data logging system was built using the various program functions and diverse peripheral equipment of the highspeed, small-size MICREX-SX series of integrated controllers. The configuration, features and example application of this analog data logging system are described.

Application of Controllers to an Energy Monitoring System
Tsuneo Kiuchi, Masami Marubayashi
As protection of the global environment becomes of greater concern, energy conservation laws are being revised and strengthened to require that a greater effort be made across all business sectors to reduce the levels of energy consumption. This paper introduces an energy monitoring system that utilizes a controller to support the diversified user needs for interfaces and measurement signals when installing an energy monitoring system under the present conditions.
