Prospects for Solutions to Business Information
Management
Shiro Yokota, Yoshitake Matsuura
Although it is said we are now under the IT depression, investment
in information management by enterprises maintains high growth
because they stake their survival on the competitive strategy. Fuji
Electric has created new values that aim at the overall optimum in
business management, focusing on the manufacturing industry, such as
processing, assembly, electronics, and fine machining, and the distribution
service industry, such as physical distribution, circulation, and
foods. This paper describes the framework and features of Fuji
Electric's solutions to business information management.
Manufacturing Solutions
Kentaro Yahiro
Manufacturing enterprises strongly require information systems to
have sensitivity capable of sharply catching a change in customer
needs and flexibility capable of quickly meeting the change. In the present
age, we can say "speed" affects the fate of enterprises. On the
basis of the technology and know-how of system application to the
manufacturing field accumulated many years, utilizing the latest information
technology, Fuji Electric offers information systems as manufacturing
solutions to solve problems the manufacturing industry is
confronting.
Solutions to Logistics
Kazuhito Takahashi, Akihito Narikuni
After the bubble collapsed, the distribution industry in Japan has
similarly striven not only for the conventional improvement in the field
but also for logistics strategy aiming at the overall optimum by introducing
the concept of supply chain management (SCM). Logistics
strategy has become realized as an important subject of management
strategy. This paper describes the present status of physical distribution,
the latest technical trend, and the warehouse management system
(WMS) essential to Fuji Electric's logistics strategy, focusing on its features
and a method of introducing it.
Solutions to Customer Relationship Management
Hiroshi Oikawa, Takumi Shimizu, Asako Mishima
Many enterprises now forward business development considering
customer relationship management (CRM) to be their competence in
the 21st century. Fuji Electric early started solving this CRM problem.
It offers solutions to CRM utilizing its customer information database
structuring technology and system development force, in cooperation
with Media Create Co., Ltd. which has ample experiences in call center
structuring and SOFTBRAIN Co., Ltd. which developed a powerful
sales support (sales force automation: SFA) package and sells it.
Consulting About Business Process Engineering
Hideo Tonohara
For example, diversified market needs, intensified price competitions,
and the industry reorganization, there have been rapid changes
in the external environment of management surrounding enterprises.
It is indispensable conditions for survival to get rid of the old business
constitution, make up a competitive business model, and secure profit.
This paper in the form of a consulting menu describes an outline of the
methodology of making a seamless connection from the visible business
technique based on business process modeling to business reformation
and IT introduction.
Solutions to Supply Chain Management (SCM) and
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
Haruki Tanaka, Hiroshi Soma, Isao Hisamichi
Under the violent economy, manufacturing companies have shown
a remarkable movements to shorten the lead time and reduce the total
stock by means of overall optimum production instead of the conventional
production attaching importance to each productivity. This paper
describes the importance of (1) business reformation, (2) the completion
of the resource information infrastructure, and (3) the thought of
supply chain management, for realizing the above-mentioned, and
introduces Fuji Electric's solution menu for them. In addition, the latest
trend is described with an example of the system supplied to
MORITA Corp.
Solutions to Manufacturing Execution Systems
Shuushi Morimoto, Masafumi Nakagawa, Makoto Kubo
As the management reformation of the manufacturing industry
was promoted in a worldwide scale in the 1990s and it has become
indispensable to meet global standardization, the efficiency improvement
and speeding up of management by directly linking the management
and the manufacturing field have been required. This paper
describes Fuji Electric's solutions to the manufacturing execution system
(MES) to realize the concept of "manufacturing fields made visible"
based on the seamless linking of information on a whole company
scale, and in addition, various examples of solutions and future trends
of MES solution development.
Solutions to Digitized Factory Management
Takashi Tsuda, Naoki Azumaya, Kenichi Kurotani
Because of the shortening of the product lifecycle and the increase
in multi-kind production, the manufacturing industry has more
required flexible systems ranging from designing to producing a new
product. This paper describes an outline of Fuji Electric's solutions for
sale that support the process of preparation work for production from
product planning and designing to the start of production, aiming at
improvements in product quality, production equipment quality, work
quality in practice, and lead time in practice.
Solutions to Energy Management
Hiroshige Mizutani, Masashi Fuse, Donghui Xiang
The world faces environmental and energy saving problems and
each enterprise is required to take effective measures, including reduction
in energy consumption. Fuji Electric in the early stages developed
business related to environment and reduction in energy consumption.
We have positively fused conventional technology with new one and
have proposed various solutions to efficient utilization of overall energy
ranging from energy measurement to environmental preparation for
integrated management, the introduction of clean energy supply equipment,
and the operation of utilities. This paper introduces Fuji
Electric's solutions to energy management, citing an example of introduction.
Solutions to Manufacturing Distribution
Kazuhiko Fukuda, Satoru Mitake, Kentaro Funato
As information on the supply and demand forecast of material suppliers
and customers has been held in common, there is a demand for
more carefully thought-out manufacturing field systems in addition to
the former endeavor goals in the factory, i.e. reduction in lead time for
production and stocks under manufacture. Regarding the rationalization
of manufacturing systems and the unification of information to be carried
out in the flow of designing, procurement, manufacturing, inspection,
and shipping by the designing and manufacturing sections, this
paper describes an outline of Fuji Electric's solutions to manufacturing
distribution.
Solutions to Hygienic Management in the Food
Industry
Kazuhito Takahashi, Yoshinori Ryuzaki, Naohiro Noda
Recently, problems of microbial contamination have increased in
many fields such as foods, drinking water, and sewage. Because the
conventional method that requires cultivation takes more than 24
hours for inspection, a simple and speedy measuring method has been
desired. Fuji Electric is developing a viable cell sensor (a tentative
name) in which viable cells are given fluorescent labeling by enzymatic
activity and the number of cells measured by the automatic apparatus
within one hour. This paper describes the verification result of the
practicability of the viable cell sensor in comparison with the conventional
method. It also describes various solutions supposed to be
brought by utilizing the viable cell sensor, such as reduction in stocks,
next-generation hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP), and a
reused water management system.
Mobile Solutions Supporting Portal Site Construction
Makoto Nishimura, Tomoji Kanno, Kengo Fukushima
With the rapid diffusion of mobile devices typically represented by
portable telephones, the environment of wireless networks has more
and more improved. Also the broadband Internet network has advanced
in parallel and its application to business is actively studied. This paper
describes a general idea of mobile solution mounting in constructing a
business information portal site capable of making a connection with
the existing basic systems, and also, examples of mobile application to
Fuji Electric's various solutions for offices, workshops, and
autonomies.
