Infrared VOC Gas Analyzer

Fuji Electric Systems Co., Ltd. (President: Haruo Ito) is pleased to announce its successful development and launch of an infrared type VOC gas analyzer on December 12, 2005.

This new gas analyzer is designed to respond to the new VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emission regulation due to take effect in Japan in April 2006 and employs catalytic oxidation/NDIR (non-dispersive infrared absorption) detection method. It is compact, highly stable and easy to operate.

I. Product Overview and Features

This infrared VOC gas analyzer (Model: ZSX) is based on the catalytic oxidation/NDIR method which is specified in the Japanese Ministry of the Environment Announcement No.61 dated on June 10, 2005. Since the catalytic oxidation/NDIR method requires neither fuel gas nor supporting gas unlike the conventional flame ionization detection (FID) method, it will allow for lower running cost, easiness in handling and high maintenanceability of the analyzer.

This new product will be targeted at the facilities subject to the VOC emission control regulation, including printing facilities, coating facilities, adhesive manufacturing and using facilities, VOCs storage facilities, drying facilities for manufacturing chemical products and industrial cleansing facilities.

VOC gas is measured in the following method: VOC gas in the sample gas is first converted into carbon dioxide (CO2) by oxidizing the VOC gas with catalyst and measured. Then the original amount of CO2 contained in the sample gas is deducted from the measured value to calculate the VOC concentration. The calculated result is displayed in the unit of parts per million by volume (vol. ppmC) and a signal is output as a measurement value. Employing the catalytic oxidation/NDIR method, its measurement result is highly stable.

With a pump for collecting sample gas, a filter and a flowmeter built in, the new analyzer enables you to start operating simply by attaching a bag of sample gas or connecting a tube for taking into sample gas.

< Specifications of ZSX >

It offers two types of output signals; DC voltage/current signal for recorders, etc. and RS-232C for printers and personal computers. Dedicated printers and sample collecting devices are available as optional components.
