Strengthening the Data Center Business by Expanding the Overseas Switchboard Production Capacity （282KB）

　Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that it plans to make capital investment to expand the production capacity of switchboards at the Malaysia Factory of its overseas subsidiary Fuji SMBE Pte. Ltd. (headquartered in Singapore).

　As generative AI increasingly becomes part of society, the global market for data centers is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 15.1% through 2029,*1 causing an increase in demand for power distribution equipment to ensure a stable power supply. Fuji Electric is currently working to strengthen the substation equipment production systems at its Kobe Factory, Tsukuba Factory (switchboards and power supplies), Chiba Factory (transformers), and Kawasaki Factory (switchgear), and it plans to construct a new switchboard production building at the Malaysia Factory of Fuji SMBE.

　Fuji SMBE has its core base in Singapore and locations in Southeast Asia and Australia, and it designs and manufactures switchboards and server distribution boards that comply with the international IEC standards. This capital investment will involve installing cranes and test equipment as well as strengthening the production system for skid systems and container powertrain units (container PTUs), and it will increase FUJI SMBE’s production capacity by 1.5 times.

　Skid systems and container PTUs can contribute to reducing the time needed for installation work at customers’ sites because switchboards, uninterruptible power systems, transformers, and other equipment are fitted to a common frame, integrating them into a unit, and delivered to the site as a unit.*2 By introducing these operations at the Malaysia Factory, the company will quadruple its overall production capacity for skid systems and container PTUs.

　The new production building at the Malaysia Factory is scheduled to start construction in June 2026 and operation in October of the same year. Going forward, Fuji Electric will further expand its data center business by strengthening its global production system for substation equipment.
