Made the CDP Climate Change A List for the Fourth Consecutive Year

　Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that it made the A List that recognizes companies pioneering action on climate change and transparent information disclosure, the top rating of the CDP*, for the fourth consecutive year.

　Fuji Electric’s corporate philosophy is to contribute to prosperity, encourage creativity and seek harmony with the environment and, as stated in its management policies, the company is committed to contributing to the creation of a responsible and sustainable society through its energy and environment business. The intent of Fuji Electric’s Environmental Vision 2050, which determines the direction of the company’s long-term environmental activities, is for Fuji Electric to work toward achieving a decarbonized society, a recycling-oriented society, and a society that is in harmony with nature through initiatives covering its entire supply chain.

　As part of its efforts to address climate change, Fuji Electric is working to reduce society’s CO2 emissions by providing equipment related to clean energy, such as geothermal and hydro power generation, and power semiconductors, as well as energy-saving equipment and systems, such as inverters. In addition, Fuji Electric has introduced energy-saving equipment, such as energy management systems, inverters and high-efficiency air conditioning systems manufactured in-house in its factories. To deal with greenhouse gases other than CO2, measures are taken to reduce and find substitutes for gases with high global warming potential. In this way, the company is promoting reductions in the emission of greenhouse gases in production activities.

　In FY2021, following the agreement on the 1.5°C target at the Paris Agreement and COP26, the company raised the FY2030 Goals in its Environmental Vision 2050 to the 1.5°C level.

Fuji Electric determined the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions in FY2019, the base year for the FY2030 Goals, to revise the Goals.

  • Make plans to introduce solar power plants at the company’s factories and purchase renewable electricity (Scope 1+2).

  • Increase in the percentage of low environmental impact products, such as SiC power semiconductors (Scope 3).

　Our greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets based on these goals have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), an international organization, to be scientifically-based targets for achieving the 1.5°C target, and Fuji Electric obtained SBT validation in December 2022.
