Graduate School of Engineering in Hiroshima University (Dean: Mitsumasa Okada) and Fuji Electric Systems Co., Ltd. (President: Haruo Ito, hereafter Fuji Electric Systems) concluded a comprehensive research partnership agreement (hereafter, research partnership program) on technological development in the water environment.

Aiming to play a vital role for world development, Graduate School of Engineering in Hiroshima University made a significant achievement in engineering research to strive to contribute to a social transformation from a mass-production and -consumption-based to a sustainable recycle-based society — a major challenge in our time. Among others, the school made remarkable results of research collaboration and global-scale cooperation in the water environment.

Fuji Electric Systems, on the other hand, with a view to further expanding its water environment businesses, is now under full sail for new activities in the field of water treatment processes such as advanced water treatment, membrane filtration systems for water purification and sludge treatment, private finance initiatives or PFIs, operation and maintenance of public water systems and other water projects, in addition to the electric instrumentations — one of the Fuji Electric Systems conventional businesses.

This partnership program aims to research and develop technologies that can be applied to the water environment, by leveraging various resources that both Graduate School of Engineering in Hiroshima University and Fuji Electric Systems hold and driving human interactions forward between the two, widely diffuse gained technologies throughout society, and make a contribution to the development of local industries, advancement of science technologies, and promotion of research collaboration programs on a global scale.

Specific fields that were agreed in the research partnership program are as follows:
