Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (FE) is pleased to announce that it has launched the MICREX-VieW One, a monitoring and control system for industrial plants that meets a wide range of operation and maintenance demands.
1. Background
In the industrial plant industry, production sites are facing issues with sophistication of plant operation and shortages of operation, maintenance, and engineering personnel. In recent years, it has become increasingly important to link operation data through DX, so control systems need the flexibility to accommodate systems with different configuration scales ranging from individual equipment to an entire plant. Conventional production sites use different control systems depending on the scale of the facility, so they need to install a gateway that functions as a converter to connect the systems, which has posed a barrier to system integration.
FE’s MICREX-VieW One monitoring and control system released has improved system construction flexibility, engineering efficiency, and reliability through assured security. It meets a wide range of operation and maintenance demands, with monitoring capabilities ranging from small individual equipment to entire plants, and it also contributes to solving customer issues.

2. Features
(1) Achieved extensive monitoring and control through system expansion
The conventional MICREX-VieW Series was mainly intended for monitoring and control of small- to medium-sized facilities, and so it had one database per system. Given this, it needed to be expanded in order to increase the number of facilities monitored, for example, during system integration or when installing new facilities. This expansion involved the risk of problems such as database outages or an increased load causing delays in error detection. To address this, the design of the MICREX-VieW One has been revised to improve scalability. By grouping targets of monitoring by facility, the database can now be divided into up to four sections, distributing the load on the database more evenly and ensuring scalability. The product flexibly meets customer demands from monitoring and control of small-scale individual equipment to monitoring and control of a large plant. It also helps customers to optimize their capital investment by enabling operations that meet the demands for gradual plant expansion and partial replacement.
(2) Helping to improve engineering efficiency with design support functions
In the past, there was a risk of overwriting the existing design of controllers and operation screens when they were edited by multiple people before the system was introduced. By implementing the integrated multi-engineering tool G-manager, Fuji Electric makes it possible to set editing permissions for each individual function, thereby improving work efficiency by allowing concurrent work. The system is also equipped with a monitoring screen simulation function, enabling efficient in-house testing and design verification.
Functions like these will enhance engineering efficiency on the customer side and facilitate smooth start-up, control, and modification.
(3) Achieved high reliability through OPC UA and ensured redundancy
For the control network, the system uses OPC UA* for high connectivity and security between systems.
Also, not only is each component redundant (duplexed), the lineup includes a standalone station that can perform backup even in the event that all servers fail. It provides a highly reliable system environment that prevents system failures in an emergency and contributes to business continuity for customers.
*An international standard in the field of industrial automation (IEC 62541) that enables secure connections between devices across different manufacturers or operating systems.
