Fuji Electric Awarded Contract for Indonesia’s Geothermal Power Generation Equipment for Muara Laboh Stage-2 Geothermal Power Project （195KB）

　Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (FE) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract for a complete set of geothermal power generation equipment as well as engineering for Muara Laboh Stage-2 Geothermal Power Project in Indonesia.

1. Contract Details

　For the Muara Laboh Stage-2 Geothermal Power Project, a consortium of Sumitomo Corporation, PT Inti Karya Persada Tehnik and PT Wasa Mitra Engineering will undertake the overall construction works and FE will be responsible for the manufacturing, supply, and engineering of key equipment including a steam turbine and generator.

2. Muara Laboh Stage-2 Geothermal Power Project

　The Muara Laboh Stage-2 Geothermal Power Project will be constructed adjacent to Stage-1 of the same plant, for which FE was awarded a contract for a complete set of geothermal power generation equipment and engineering in 2017. Stage-1 started operation in 2019. The construction of Stage-2 is anticipated to increase the plant’s generation capacity is to approximately 170 MW.

3. FE’s Geothermal Power Generation Business

　Geothermal power generation uses underground steam and hot water, which are renewable energy sources, to generate electricity. Since 1960, FE has been leveraging its advanced engineering capabilities and its ability to design and manufacture corrosion and wear resistant equipment in order to deliver geothermal power generation equipment (steam turbines, generators, etc.) to countries all over the world, including the US, Indonesia, the Philippines, Iceland, New Zealand, Kenya, and Japan. To date, FE has delivered a total of 86 geothermal steam turbines with a total generation capacity of over 3,600 MW.
　Indonesia, which boasts the world’s second largest reserve of geothermal resources, is implementing a policy to increase its geothermal power generation capacity from the current level of approximately 2,600 MW to approximately 5,000 MW by 2035 in order to expand its stable sources of renewable energy. FE will work to win even more contracts for geothermal power generation equipment in Indonesia and to contribute to the economic development of the region and the achievement of a decarbonized society.
