Fuji Electric Co., Ltd.

Fuji Electric Co., Ltd., announces today the release of the FRENIC 4800VM5 high-voltage inverter equipped with a water-cooling system in response to demand for higher capacity inverters.

High-voltage inverters are used to drive machinery such as rolling equipment in steel, iron and aluminum processing lines. With the increasing size of production facilities, demand for higher capacity inverters in smaller sizes to maximize space is also growing. To realize this, however, the cooling of heat generated from conversion circuits can be problematic due to the control of high-current electricity.

The FRENIC 4800VM5 employs a water-cooling system to reduce the heat generated by conversion circuits. Compared to conventional air-cooling systems, the method achieves greatly improved cooling efficiency and allows the capacity of high-voltage inverters to be increased while their size is reduced.

Against the backdrop of high steel and iron demand for constructing infrastructure in growing markets, Fuji Electric will aggressively promote the FRENIC 4800VM5 in countries overseas, particularly China and other Asian regions, where iron and steel plants are expected to expand.
