Fuji Electric Group Sets up Fuji Electric India Private Limited to Strengthen Sales Activities in India

Fuji Electric Holdings Co., Ltd. (FHC) (President and Representative Director: Haruo Ito) announced today its foundation of Fuji Electric India Private Limited in Mumbai to expand business in India. To date, the Fuji Electric Group has marketed primarily drive products such as inverters in India through a branch office of its sales subsidiary in Singapore. By locally incorporating a sales company, the Fuji Electric Group will reinforce sales activities in India.

1. Background and Purposes

In India, a rapid economic growth is expected to continue due to steady domestic demand in India and external demand. Considering this situation, the Fuji Electric Group positions Indian as one of the most important markets for its overseas business strategy.

To date, the Fuji Electric Group has marketed drive products such as inverters and servomotors in India through a branch office of its sales subsidiary in Singapore. However, to offer a wide range of products and services of each group company, accelerate penetration of its brand and reinforce marketing in India, the Fuji Electric Group has decided to set up a sales company in India under direct control of FHC.

2. Major Sales Initiatives

(1) Strengthen overall sales of component products

The Fuji Electric Group will expand component sales in the industrial market in India, specifically factory automation (FA) market by selling the following key products:

 Drive products, including inverters, servomotors and uninterruptible power supply systems (UPSs);
 Factory automation products, including control systems, analyzers and other instrumentation equipment; and
 Power semiconductors.

(2) Expand business in the infrastructure sectors such as electric power and railroad

An increase in demand is expected, specifically in the infrastructure sectors such as electric power and railroad. The Fuji Electric Group will strengthen solution business for these sectors by marketing the products and engineering services that help control energy, where the Fuji Electric Group has competitive strength, and drive control systems, including high-efficiency motors and inverters through the new local sales company. The local service engineering support function will also be reinforced.

3. Sales and Manpower Planning

The new sales subsidiary in India aims to achieve ¥ 2,300 million of sales in fiscal 2011.
