Meeting the need for large-capacity hard disk drives with unique advanced technologies.

Magnetic disks installed in hard disk drives (HDDs) are key devices for recording, playing and storing digital data.

We mass-produce and supply 3.5-inch high recording density 80-GB aluminum disks and 2.5-inch high recording density glass disks for mobile terminals. We also manufacture high-quality aluminum substrates for the aluminum disks, some of which are now on the market.

With the advancement of IT, various entertainment devices requiring high-speed processing of huge amounts of image data have been developed, and so the market for HDDs is rapidly expanding. In particular, compact large-capacity magnetic disks will be crucial in a ubiquitous society where people will use large volumes of information, images, music and games on a variety of small, mobile terminals.

We are now manufacturing small-diameter glass disks of 1.0 inch or less to meet such needs and will commercialize large-capacity magnetic disks using the vertical magnetic recording technology to achieve higher recording density, thereby contributing to proliferation of the ubiquitous society.
