Environmental Report : Operating Activities : Aiming for Net Zero Global Environmental Impact

The Fuji Electric Group is striving to make the most efficient use of resources and energy across the entire supply chain while seeking to reduce waste. The Group is also actively engaged in various activities that aim to reduce environmental impact over the course of product and service life cycles.

Input/output data is from domestic consolidated manufacturing sites.

Amounts of natural resources extracted from the environment continue to rise year after year. The Japanese government's plan for promoting a recycling-oriented society calls for a paradigm shift in thinking toward sustainable production and consumption based on assessments of the entire process from natural resource extraction to final product disposal. The aim of this approach is to maintain economic affluence while gradually reducing the environmental impact of economic activities.

The policy of the Fuji Electric Group is to measure the environmental impact of the Group's operating activities over entire life cycles and to disclose such information on an ongoing basis to present progress. The Group's goal for 2010 is to achieve "eco-balance," which is defined in terms of the environmental impact of operating activities being equally offset by positive environmental contributions. Various environmental preservation initiatives are currently underway with this aim.

What is "eco-balance"?

"Eco-balance" is an initiative to offset the impact of operating activities over entire life cycles through the supply of ecofriendly products and services. Maintaining eco-balance is critical to creating a sustainable society.
