Tokyo, December 20, 2012 - Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (TSE:6504) announced today that it has commenced production of servomotors in China.

1. Background and Target

Although there has been some indication of a slight slowdown in the Chinese and Asian markets, there are still prospects for steady economic growth going forward. In addition, the mechanization and automation of manufacturing processes continues to progress as companies seek to increase their production efficiency. This has led to the introduction of various kinds of equipment, including machining tools and conveyance systems, which, in turn, has led to an increase in demand for servo systems (servomotors and servo amplifiers) to be able to control the processing speed and positioning of such equipment.
In response to this demand, Fuji Electric has built a new production line with its consolidated subsidiary, Fuji Electric Motor (Dalian) Co., Ltd., to commence the production of servomotors for China and Asia. The target of this activity is to expand business by building an organization that can supply products in a speedy manner, promoting local production for local consumption, strengthening cost competitiveness throughout the whole supply chain, including procurement and logistics, and reducing the risk of exposure to fluctuations in exchange rates.
