Release of High-Voltage Direct Current Circuit Breakers

Fuji Electric Co., Ltd., announces today that its subsidiary, Fuji Electric FA Components & Systems Co., Ltd., has commenced sales of new models of direct current (DC) circuit breakers in the GLOBAL-TWIN (G-TWIN) series, featuring high-voltage and high-current specifications.

1. Objective of the sales release

DC distribution systems are becoming more common with the spread of new energy sources such as solar power, and the planning of high-efficiency data centers that use DC power distribution. Consequently, demand for circuit protection is growing.

Fuji Electric is expanding its lineup of circuit breakers to respond to this demand, newly releasing 750- and 1,000-volt DC high-voltage models to add to its existing products, which have a capacity up to 600 volts DC.

These new models in the G-TWIN series realize DC breaking at high voltages and currents by increasing arc voltage between contacts, a capability that has been difficult to achieve with conventional technologies when an electric current is interrupted.
